Welcome

It's our Diamond Jubilee Year! What better time to join a super-friendly club? We're always keen to welcome new members, whatever age or skill. You don't have to live in Houghton or Wyton. Some members, attracted by the welcoming nature of our club, travel from their homes in surrounding towns and villages.

Coaching and kit are available, so you can easily give bowls a try. If you're looking for a new interest with a strong social element, look no further. Click 'Join us' for more information.

We have over 100 friendly, club competition and league matches during each outdoor season from April to September. There are friendly social games every Tuesday morning and Friday evening. Members can play for one of the club's teams and enter competitions run throughout the season. During the closed season, there are social events. If you'd like to be updated with news and events, click the Facebook button on the right and like our Facebook page.

Founded in 1964, the club lets the ground from the Parish Council and shares use of the sports pavilion with other sports clubs. Club volunteers maintain the green and surrounds with funds raised by membership fees and income from social events. We are affiliated to the various county and national governing bodies.

There are five Level 1 coaches and one Level 2 coach. Two hold the Enhanced Certificate as sports coaches for children and vulnerable adults. All have attended courses run by the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA). Our club follows the BDA's Safeguarding policies. We run curriculum lessons with Houghton Primary School on Tuesday mornings, typically involving thirty children.
